A Chic Dublin City Wedding with Meadhbh and Eoin at Medley

There are some weddings that are elegant. Some that are effortlessly cool. And every so often, you get one that manages to be both.

Meadhbh and Eoin’s chic Dublin city wedding was exactly that.

From Meadhbh’s incredible bridal look and statement blue and lilac bouquet to city-centre photographs and their celebration at Medley Dublin, this wedding was full of personality from beginning to end.

And truthfully? We knew it would be from the first time they walked through the door of our little flower shop in Rathgar.

A Wedding with Personality from the Very Beginning

Meadhbh and Eoin had such a vibe from the moment we met them.

Meadhbh came into the shop with her sister, who was every bit as invested in the colour palette as she was, and we immediately clicked. They knew what they loved, they weren't afraid of colour, and the whole wedding already felt like them.

For us, that's always where the best wedding flowers begin.

Rather than designing flowers simply because they're traditionally “wedding”, we want to understand the people we're creating them for — their style, the atmosphere they want and all those little details that will make the day unmistakably theirs.

For Meadhbh, that meant beautiful blues, lilacs and purples softened with creamy ivory, creating something striking and modern while still feeling romantic.

A Statement Blue Bridal Bouquet

And then there was the bouquet.

Meadhbh's bridal bouquet was designed in gorgeous shades of blue, violet, lilac and ivory, with hydrangea, delphinium, roses, scabiosa and delicate seasonal flowers creating plenty of movement and texture.

Against her beautifully chic, understated dress, the colour absolutely sang.

The finished bouquet felt contemporary and a little unexpected — romantic without being overly traditional and colourful without losing its elegance.

Add Meadhbh's incredible jewelled headpiece and sunglasses and, frankly, she looked cool as hell.

It was the perfect bridal look for a Dublin city wedding.

A Little Something for Chef Eoin

Of course, we couldn't let Meadhbh have all the floral fun.

Eoin is a chef, and he wanted his wedding flowers to include a subtle nod to his profession.

So we incorporated fresh rosemary and thyme into the buttonholes for him and the groomsmen — a tiny personal detail that made them completely unique to him.

Naturally, while pinning Eoin's buttonhole on, I pointed out that he now smelled somewhat like a roast chicken.

His grooms-woman was considerably more relieved when I assured her I'd had enough sense not to add the herbs to hers.

It's still one of my favourite little memories from that day.

Because wedding flowers can be beautiful and meaningful without everything having to be terribly serious.

A Chic Dublin City Celebration at Medley

Afterwards, the celebrations continued at Medley in Dublin City Centre, a brilliant setting for a modern city wedding.

There is something we absolutely love about Dublin weddings — beautiful old streets, Georgian architecture, bustling pubs and city life happening all around you while, in the middle of it, two people are having one of the biggest days of their lives.

Meadhbh and Eoin embraced all of it.

Their photographs around the city capture exactly what made the day so good: stylish but relaxed, elegant but fun, and completely personal to them.

We carried the floral palette through to Medley, allowing those rich blues and softer tones to bring another layer of colour to the celebration.

And we have to give a special mention to the team at Medley. Wedding setup days involve florists, planners, photographers, catering teams and a small army of suppliers moving around behind the scenes, and their team genuinely couldn't have been nicer or more helpful to work alongside.

That makes such a difference.

Wedding Flowers That Feel Like You

Meadhbh and Eoin's wedding is also a perfect example of something we're increasingly passionate about at Anna May Floristry.

Your wedding flowers don't have to look like everybody else's wedding flowers.

If you adore colour, let's use colour.

If you're a chef and want herbs tucked into your buttonhole, we'll find the rosemary.

If you want something wild, modern, romantic, whimsical or completely unexpected, that's where the fun starts.

The best weddings we work on are the ones where the flowers become part of the couple's story rather than simply decoration.

And Meadhbh and Eoin gave us plenty to work with.

Kind Words from Meadhbh & Eoin

We were absolutely delighted when this landed after the wedding:

“Can't recommend Leah & the team enough. Leah brought my vision to life & my sister & I immediately bonded with her humour, vibe & enthusiasm.

Eoin also said that Leah was so funny & was such good craic when she arrived at Medley to set up & give the groom's party their buttonholes, it really made them feel all at ease.”

And THAT, for us, is what it's all about.

Yes, we want the flowers to be gorgeous. Of course we do.

But we also want our couples to enjoy the whole experience — from that first chat in our Rathgar shop right through to the moment we're pinning buttonholes, setting the tables and putting the final flowers into place.

Meadhbh & Eoin, thank you for trusting us with it. What a wedding. What a vibe.
