Anna May Floristry on Dublin City FM Ladies Who Launch with Sarah Naylor

There’s a little more to Anna May than beautiful flowers.

Behind the bouquets, weddings, deliveries, early mornings and buckets — so many buckets — there’s also the story of a small Dublin business that has grown, changed and become something I’m incredibly proud of.

So it was such a pleasure to step away from the flower bench and join the incredible Sarah Naylor on Dublin City FM’s Ladies Who Launch to chat about Anna May Floristry, business, growth and everything that happens behind the blooms.

And anyone who knows me knows I can talk... so Sarah had her work cut out.

The Story Behind Anna May

Anna May has always been incredibly personal to me.

The name comes from my grandmother’s nickname, Lil Anna May, and while the business has grown and evolved over the years, that little connection has always stayed at the heart of it.

Today you'll find us in the heart of Rathgar Village, Dublin, surrounded by beautiful seasonal flowers and creating everything from everyday bouquets and flower deliveries across Dublin to bespoke weddings, events, workshops and corporate flowers.

But there's a whole other side to running a flower shop that you don't necessarily see amongst the pretty blooms.

The risks. The mistakes. The long days. The brilliant days. The occasional what the hell am I doing? day.

And then those moments when you stop, look around and realise — God, we've actually built something here.

I absolutely love what I do, and I'm still incredibly ambitious about where Anna May can go next.

The Incredible Sarah Naylor

One of the loveliest parts of the experience was getting to sit down with Sarah Naylor, because Sarah isn't simply a brilliant interviewer — she's an incredible businesswoman in her own right.

Sarah is the founder of Beauty Business in a Box®, a social enterprise helping women and young people develop practical beauty skills alongside the business knowledge, confidence and mentoring needed to create opportunities for themselves.

And I absolutely love what she's doing.

There's real purpose behind Sarah's work. It's not simply about teaching beauty — it's about helping women build skills, confidence and routes towards employment and financial independence.

Perhaps that's why our conversation felt so easy.

There is something very refreshing about sitting down with another woman who understands the excitement, graft, chaos and sheer determination involved in building something of your own.

Sarah is warm, encouraging, great company and genuinely interested in the people she speaks to — and I thoroughly enjoyed our chat

Ladies Who Launch on Dublin City FM

Being invited onto Ladies Who Launch on Dublin City FM gave me a rare opportunity to stop doing and actually talk about the business.

I'm usually much happier with my hands in a bucket of flowers than talking about myself, but it was lovely to share a little of the journey behind Anna May.

Because Anna May isn't simply a flower shop.

It's our incredible team.

It's the customers who walk through our Rathgar door and those who order from us across Dublin and beyond.

It's the couples — including our wonderful overseas brides and grooms — who trust us with one of the biggest days of their lives.

And it's every person who has recommended us, returned to us, left us a lovely review, sent somebody our way or simply cheered us on as we've grown.

You are all part of the Anna May story.

From Rathgar Village to Weddings Across Ireland

Our little flower shop in Rathgar Village is home, but these days Anna May travels considerably further.

Our team creates bespoke wedding flowers throughout Dublin, Wicklow and across Ireland, alongside events, corporate florals, workshops and our everyday Dublin flower delivery service.

Every wedding is different. Every bouquet is different. And every season gives us something new to play with.

That's probably one of the reasons I still love floristry as much as I do.

There's always something else to learn. Another idea to try. Another design to create.

And always another opportunity to become better at what we do.
