BrookLodge Wedding Flowers Wicklow with Anna May Floristry
A Colour-Filled Summer Wedding at BrookLodge, Co. Wicklow
Stephen & Nam's joyful June wedding at BrookLodge & Macreddin Village — filled with colour, beautiful Indian wedding traditions, abundant summer flowers and a whole lot of personality.
There are some weddings where flowers simply decorate a space.
And then there are weddings where the flowers become part of the whole story.
Stephen and Nam's June wedding at BrookLodge & Macreddin Village in Co. Wicklow was very much the latter.
Set amongst the beautiful Wicklow countryside, their celebration was colourful, romantic, abundant and completely full of personality.
But what appeared on the wedding day didn't begin with a van full of flowers arriving at BrookLodge.
It began months earlier, when Nam and Stephen walked through the doors of our Rathgar flower shop — and Nam knew exactly what she wanted.
From Nam's Vision to BrookLodge
We love a bride with a vision, and Nam had one.
She knew the feeling she wanted to create: joyful colour, beautiful flowers in abundance and a celebration that felt romantic while still having plenty of personality.
Our job wasn't to change that vision.
It was to take everything Nam already loved and work out how to bring it beautifully to life throughout BrookLodge. And that's where the real wedding flower design process begins.
There were numerous site visits to BrookLodge, plenty of conversations and ideas shared back and forth, measurements taken, mechanics considered and lots of planning alongside Maria Reidy Events, who planned Stephen and Nam's celebration.
Together, we looked at the wedding as a whole.
How would guests experience the venue as they arrived?
Where would the flowers create the greatest impact?
How could we transform the ceremony without competing with BrookLodge's existing character?
Which arrangements could move after the ceremony and be enjoyed again?
How would the flowers, candles, tables and smaller details all connect?
By the time June arrived, we weren't simply turning up with flowers.
We were bringing months of conversations, site visits, planning and preparation to life.
And that is one of our favourite parts of bespoke wedding floristry.
The Flowers: Wild, Romantic & Gloriously Colourful
For Stephen and Nam, subtle simply wasn't the brief.
And we were delighted about it.
We worked with a gorgeous summer palette of blush pinks, peach, butter yellow, lilac and purple, with richer pops of burgundy, red and orange woven throughout.
Beautiful roses brought softness and romance, while seasonal flowers, delicate textural stems, eucalyptus and loose greenery gave the designs movement and that slightly wild, garden-grown feeling we love.
Nothing was designed to feel rigid or overly formal.
The flowers moved.
They tumbled.
They reached.
And although there was an abundance of colour, everything was carefully balanced so the finished design still felt elegant and considered.
Wild, whimsical and unmistakably Anna May.
Transforming the Ceremony at BrookLodge
BrookLodge already has incredible natural character, so our approach was never to overpower it.
We wanted the flowers to feel as though they belonged there.
At the entrance to the ceremony, we created two large-scale floral installations around the beautiful arched doorway.
Filled with summer colour and loose greenery, the flowers spilled naturally into the surrounding landscape, creating a pretty spectacular first glimpse of what was waiting inside.
Rather than making the installations perfectly symmetrical, we allowed them to have movement and an organic, garden-grown quality — almost as though the Wicklow countryside itself had crept towards the doorway and burst into bloom for the occasion.
Inside, we continued the floral story along the ceremony aisle.
Low, meadow-style arrangements lined the aisle, bringing colour and softness through the room while allowing BrookLodge's architecture to remain part of the overall design.
At the ceremony table, another abundant floral arrangement brought the palette together beautifully beneath that incredible Gothic-style window.
The result felt intimate, romantic and wonderfully immersive.
Honouring Indian Wedding Traditions
Stephen and Nam's celebration also incorporated beautiful Indian wedding traditions, adding another deeply personal layer to their day.
We created fresh floral garlands for the ceremony, designed to sit naturally within the wider floral palette while still allowing this important element of their celebration to have its own moment.
It's one of the things we love most about creating bespoke wedding flowers.
No two couples bring the same story to us.
Our job is to listen, understand what matters to them and create flowers that feel like they could only ever belong to their wedding.
Making the Flowers Work Twice
Beautiful wedding flowers deserve more than one moment.
From the very beginning of the design process, we consider how key arrangements can be repurposed throughout the wedding day.
It's something we do wherever the venue, timings and designs allow.
For Stephen and Nam, elements of the ceremony flowers were carefully moved and restyled throughout BrookLodge after the ceremony, allowing the same floral story to continue into the reception.
Not only does this give couples far greater impact from their floral investment, it also creates something we really value from a design perspective:
continuity.
The flowers don't suddenly change when guests move rooms.
The wedding simply evolves.
The Reception: Flowers, Candlelight & Colour
As the celebration moved into the reception, we softened the scale while keeping all that glorious colour.
The tables featured garden-inspired floral arrangements surrounded by beautiful Erik & Ester candles, with coloured taper candles picking up tones from the flowers and bringing warmth, height and atmosphere to the room.
The centrepieces were intentionally kept low enough for guests to comfortably chat across the table while still creating an abundant, flower-filled tablescape.
Peach and blush roses sat alongside yellows, burgundies, lilacs and flashes of stronger colour, softened with foliage and delicate seasonal stems.
Against the crisp table linen, beautiful glassware and flickering candlelight, everything came alive.
Colourful, yes.
But still elegant.
Flowers Beyond the Tables
One of the things we loved about this wedding was that the flowers weren't confined to the obvious places.
BrookLodge is filled with beautiful architectural details, fireplaces and little spaces just waiting to become part of the styling.
So we used them.
Fireplaces became floral focal points, dressed with abundant arrangements and candlelight.
Bud vases and smaller floral details appeared throughout the celebration, connecting one space to another.
The dessert and wedding cake display became another floral moment of its own, framed by flowers and surrounded by the warmth of candlelight.
Everywhere guests moved, there was another little piece of the same story waiting for them.
Nothing felt added on.
Nothing felt separate.
It all belonged together.
Working With Maria Reidy Events
A wedding with this many moving parts takes an enormous amount of coordination behind the scenes.
We had the pleasure of working closely with Maria Reidy Events throughout the planning process, including our site visits to BrookLodge and preparations in the lead-up to the wedding.
Maria was an absolute pleasure to work with — organised, collaborative and genuinely lovely.
Having the couple, planner, venue and florist working towards the same vision makes an enormous difference.
There are timings to coordinate, rooms to turn around, arrangements to move and dozens of tiny decisions happening behind the scenes.
When everyone works beautifully together, the couple doesn't need to see any of that.
They simply walk into a room that looks exactly as it should.
And that's the goal.
It Takes an Anna May Army
And then there was our own incredible team.
Because despite what the finished photographs might suggest, weddings of this scale do not magically flower themselves.
Behind every beautiful installation are days of ordering and conditioning flowers, buckets everywhere, mechanics being prepared, designs being created, vans being packed, unpacked and inevitably repacked, ladders, tools, water, foliage and approximately seventeen million trips back and forth carrying things.
For Stephen and Nam's wedding, I had Mr Anna May himself on logistics and transport, Justine and Taylor alongside me, not forgetting Raygan manning the shop for all our loyal customers both old & new
And they were fantastic.
From creating those large ceremony installations and styling the aisle to moving arrangements, setting the reception and making sure every last floral detail was exactly where it needed to be, this wedding was a proper team effort.
I may lead the creative vision, but Anna May is very much a team effort— and days like this remind me how lucky I am to have them.
Seeing months of work finally come together at BrookLodge made every bucket, ladder, early start and stray eucalyptus leaf completely worth it.
Wedding Flowers at BrookLodge & Macreddin Village
For couples dreaming of a romantic countryside wedding, BrookLodge & Macreddin Village in Co. Wicklow is an incredible setting.
Its lush gardens, beautiful stonework, intimate ceremony spaces and character-filled interiors lend themselves particularly well to natural, abundant and garden-inspired wedding flowers.
For us, the secret to designing wedding flowers for a venue like BrookLodge is simple:
Don't fight what's already beautiful.
Enhance it.
Stephen and Nam's wedding was the perfect example.
Joyful summer colour against the greenery outside.
Abundant flowers filling the ceremony.
Then softer arrangements, candlelight and intimate floral moments as the celebration moved indoors.
It was romantic without being predictable.
Colourful without becoming chaotic.
Beautifully considered, wonderfully personal and completely theirs.
